Rooted in the earth: Reaching for the heavens

A 200- Hour Yoga Alliance Registered Teacher Training & Immersion Program,
Live Well Studio Fall 2015-Spring 2016, twelve weekends September-May, Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday.

Yoga. Union. Desire. Longing. Irritation. Suffering. Change. Yoga. Union.

Yoga calls us.  We desire change. We struggle and suffer in our lives and we think Yoga might ease the suffering.  We want to understand why we are here.  We think the yogis might have an answer.  Yoga calls us.

Some of us are called to yoga teacher training by a desire to teach and share what yoga has given us.  Some of us are called because we want to more deeply understand what yoga is and what it has to offer us. Some of us are looking to heal ourselves.  Some of us are looking to heal the world.  Some of us are looking to find our voice.  Some of us are looking to simply be more comfortable in the skinsuit we wear each day.  Yoga calls us for many reasons.

The goal of the Live Well Studio Yoga Teacher Training and Immersion is to offer you a deeper understanding of the fundamentals of yoga.  We will study yoga history, philosophy, ethics, anatomy, asana, meditation, pranayama, body reading and teaching.  You’ll have moments of deep struggle and moments of deep satisfaction, even bliss. You’ll come through the other side changed.

We will push you to learn to speak the language of the body and the spirit. We will push you to find your creative and spiritual voice.  We will ask you to question yoga, yourself, what you believe, and what you experience. Through inquiry you will develop a clearer sense of self, an ability to articulate with honesty and vulnerability both your achievements and your failures, to laugh and to improvise, and to lead and inspire others.

Yoga.  Union.  Desire.  Longing. Irritation.  Suffering. Change.  Yoga.  Union.

‘Cause, remember: no matter where you go… there you are. (Buckaroo Banzai)

These tools apply beyond teaching, they are the tools for a juicy life; you’ll grow strong roots, establish solid grounding, and come to trust your ability to reach for what is best in life and best in you. Live Well Studio’s Yoga Teacher Training Program is a registered program with the Yoga Alliance and qualifies you to apply for the Yoga Alliance 200-hour Certification.

We will generally meet Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday for twelve weekends. You will have assignments and reading on the days between sessions. You will benefit greatly if you have completed the reading assignments ahead of time.

Co-owner, Lisa Wells, PhD, ERYT500, teaches yoga, pilates, core, meditation, trauma-release and 'Making Peace with Your Body' in addition to co-managing the studio . Her 25+ years of yoga practice have taught her patience, humility and happiness. Lisa has been teaching yoga since 2000. She received her PhD in Geology from Stanford University and in her current incarnation as yoga teacher has been called 'a geographer of the body.' Lisa's yoga classes are for your whole being, as she believes there is no separation between body, mind and spirit.  Her philosophy is grounded in the primacy of love.

In addition to master’s degrees in neuroscience and special education, I am a life long spiritual seeker. I have studied and practiced many, many years in a variety of schools of yoga, Eastern philosophy, Ayurvedic living principles, and Hindu mythology. Most recently I identify with Rajanaka yoga philosophy, a Tantric philosophy. My primary teachers are Douglas Brooks and Sarahjoy Marsh. My yoga training and practice have granted me space and quietness of mind enough to feel the rhythm and pulsation of life in everything and everyone around me. It is this pulsation that hooks me like a drug and draws me into the dance of relationship with life: the sorrow, the grief, the ecstasy, the passion, the work, the need, the trees, the being. This state I recognize as Goddess, and I celebrate with each passing breath. This state I recognize as God, and I celebrate with each passing movement. This state I celebrate with each interaction, each class.
